Grind Time Scholarship Program

Breaking Barriers. Building Confidence. One Lesson at a Time.

At The Free Skate Foundation, we believe cost should never be a barrier to skateboarding. Our Grind Time Scholarship Program offers free or reduced-cost private skate lessons to youth from underserved communities across Los Angeles.

Whether you're brand new to skateboarding or looking to build your skills, we're here to help you roll forward.

 Who It's For

  • Youth (ages 5–18) from low-income families
  • Young skaters in foster care, transitional housing, or who are unhoused
  • Anyone who would not otherwise have access to paid lessons

We prioritize applicants from historically underserved communities, but we review each application with care and respect.

What It Covers

  • Free or discounted private lessons (1-on-1)
  • Access to group skate sessions
  • Use of loaner skateboards and safety gear

Lessons are provided by certified Grind Time Skateboarding coaches through The Free Skate Foundation.
